‘The power of the visual in advertisement constructs societies everyday life aspirations. Focusing on housewives from the 1940 to present day and the aspiration to live these showcase homes that are advertised to them, leading them to believe they will hold greater value and status amongst society. In this project, Southern takes a playful approach making a joke out of exposing these showroom sets; making them look real until one notices the small signifiers exposing the truth.
